Ayala Defense Forces 5 Turnovers in 35-14 Victory Over Bonita; Chandler Carthan Picks Two Daniel Andrade Passes

Football:

Ayala clinched at least a share of the Mountain West League title on Friday night.

The Bulldogs defense forced five turnovers in a 35-14 victory over visiting Bonita.

Ayala snapped the Bearcats six-game win streak, and held their visitors from La Verne to just 34 yards rushing.

Daniel Andrade completed 20 of his 42 pass attempts for 206 yards.

Andrade hit Trevor Cadam on 12-and 14-yard TD passes, but the Bearcats star junior was picked four times.

Bryan Bradshaw had six catches for 57 yards and Isaiah Portillo caught five passes for 84 yards.

Chandler Carthan intercepted a pair of Andrade passes.

Carthan brought both back for pick-sixes, but the first TD was nullified because of an Ayala penalty.

Drew Merrill and Dominic Alloway each picked Andrade once in Friday’s win.

Ayala’s ground game had an effective night, rushing for 194 yards on 33 carries.

Marquis Monroe gained 95 yards on eight carries and Jacob Munoz carried the ball eight times for 41 yards.

Jacob Munoz and Jedi Hernandez had rushing TD’s for the Bulldogs.

Bryan Wilson went 5-of-9 for 46 yards, threw for two TD’s and was picked once.

Dominic Alloway had a pair of catches for 18 yards, including a 10-yard TD.

Boston Wilson had a 14-yard TD reception.

Bonita’s Luke Smith picked off Wilson.

Up next: Both Ayala and Bonita will be in action next Friday.

The Bulldogs travel to Charter Oak, and the Bearcats host Alta Loma.
