Football:
It’s already difficult enough to keep up with the high-tempo, Rio Hondo Prep offense.
But when an opponent turns the ball over five times like Rancho Christian did on Friday night, it’s lights out.
RHP cruised to a 41-6 victory to improve to 8-1.
The Kares turned a nunber of Eagles turnovers into 28 points.
RHP finished with 408 yards of total offense, as compared to just 136 for RC.
Damyan Diaz threw 8-and-23 yard TD passes to Gio Ortega.
Ortega rushed for 44 yards on six carries, and caught four passes for 47 yards and the two scores.
Jonathan Guerrero rushed for 140 yards on 11 carries, and that included a 29-yard TD in the second quarter that extended the Kares lead to 28-6.
Ryan McCulloch gained 50 yards on seven carries and he scored on TD runs of 8 and 4 yards.
Armando Carbajal connected with Calvin Johnson on a 15-yard scoring strike.
Johnson also got two carries for 50 yards, and caught three passes for 59 yards.
Nate Curtis and Gio Ortega both picked off Rancho Christian quarterback, Kai Rapolla.
Up next: RHP will host Viewpoint in their regular season finale on Thursday night.
