Rio Hondo Prep held serve on Saturday night to remain perfect in 2021, setting up next week’s Gold Coast League opener with undefeated Campbell Hall.
RHP cruised to a 41-0 victory at Bosco Tech.
Rio Hondo Prep has now outscored Poly, Verdugo Hills, Boron, Temple City, Linfield Christian and Bosco Tech by a combined margin of 279-53.
As much credit as the offense gets and deserves, the Kares defense registered its second shutout of the season and they surrender an average of just eight points per game.
Jayden Sanchez had a team-high eight tackles and Aaron Saiz had six tackles and half a sack with Zachary Burl.
And speaking of that offense that averages 47 points per game, they dominated yet again.
The Kares out-rushed Bosco Tech, 206-60, and picked up 14 first downs, as opposed to just seven for the Tigers.
Jonathan Guerrero gained 141 yards on six carries, and that included TD runs of 50 and 26 yards, respectively.
It seems that Gio Ortega scores at least once a week on special teams, and the RHP senior continued his excellence with a 60-yard punt return for a TD.
Trevor Scott caught a 20-yard TD pass from Armando Carbajal in the third quarter to extend the Kares lead to 34-0.
Up next: RHP will welcome undefeated Campbell Hall on Friday to Kare Park.
On Saturday, the Vikings (7-0) claimed a 45-0 victory over Bishop Montgomery.

Football: It couldn’t have been a massive surprise that Ayala took a little while to get going offensively. The Bulldogs had last week off, and they struggled two weeks ago in a 21-7 loss to Glendora. But Ayala did what great programs do. They rode their defense and special teams until the Bulldogs offense found […]
