Village Christian entered Friday’s Olympic League opener at Maranatha the heavy favorites over the young and undersized Minutemen.

And the Crusaders looked every bit a 5-0 program, defeating Maranatha, 61-0.

Nate Bennett is having one heck of a sophomore season.

Bennett went 17 of 19 for 306 yards and threw four TD passes in the win.

Bennett hit Ryan Dellutri on TD passes of 3 and 60 yards, a 13-yard score to Sam Faulkner and a 10-yard TD to Evan Clarizio.

The Crusaders’ sophomore also scored on a 3-yard run to make it five for the night.

Logan Everett rushed for 90 yards, and had TD runs of 10 and 15 yards.

Dellutri finished the night with 152 receiving yards, the two scores and a 45-yard pick six.

Rhett Gordon and Destin Brown both picked off Maranatha passes.

Up next: Maranatha and Village Christian will be in action next Friday.

The Minutemen host Whittier Christian and the Crusaders will travel to Cerritos to take on Valley Christian.
