Football:
The Rio Hondo Prep victory tour continued on Friday night.
The Kares dropped the hammer on visiting Temple City, 55-14, to improve to 4-0.
RHP dominated in every phase of the game except one.
Temple City had a more than 2-1 advantage in the time of possession battle.
But what that really means is that when RHP had the football, they didn’t waste any time in punching it into the end zone.
The Kares out-rushed the Rams 171 yards to minus-12.
Damyan Diaz and Armando Carbajal combined for just four total pass attempts, but three of the four went for TD’s.
Diaz connected with Ryan McCulloch on a 6-yard TD and had a 27-yard scoring strike to Calvin Johnson.
Carbajal hooked up with Trevor Scott on a 69-yard score.
Jonathan Guerrero carried the ball just twice for 71 yards.
Guerrero’s 66-yard TD run gave RHP a 42-8 lead just 21 seconds into the second half.
Gio Ortega took a first quarter punt 60 yards for an RHP TD.
Temple City’s Jacob Douglas had TD runs of 7 and 5 yards to account for the Rams scoring on Friday.
Ryan McCulloch had a game-high four sacks for Rio Hondo Prep.
The Kares have now outscored Poly, Verdugo Hills, Boron and Temple City by a combined margin of 194-44.
Up next: RHP will travel to Linfield Christian next Saturday.
The Kares and Lions (0-4) were supposed to meet on September 2, but Linfield Christian canceled two days prior to kickoff because of a Covid issue.
