Baseball:

It might not sound like much to others, but St. Francis doubled their Mission League win total over the past two days.

The Golden Knights leapfrogged Loyola out of the league cellar after defeating Chaminade, 5-1, on Tuesday.

It’s also clinched their first Mission League series victory of 2021.

Ethan Sanders surrendered 11 hits over his complete-game victory.

But thanks to SFHS catcher Jack Costa throwing out three runners, the defense turning a pair of double plays, and Sanders grit, the SFHS senior allowed just one run in the victory.

He walked one and struck out four Eagles’ batters.

Ian Duarte doubled and scored for Chaminade.

Christian Brewster was saddled with the loss, allowing two runs on two hits over his four innings.

He walked one and struck out a pair of SFHS batters.

Luke Garrity doubled and scored.

Diego Robles singled, tripled, scored and had two RBIs.

Luke Crawshaw walked twice and scored.

Tommy Italia singled and drove in two runs.

Luke Fogarty had an RBI single and scored two runs in the win.

Up next: The Golden Knights and Eagles will finish the 2021 season tomorrow (Wednesday).

The first pitch is set for 3:30 at Chaminade.
