Softball:
After dropping its first two games, Rio Hondo Prep came into Friday’s contest against Chadwick on a 13-game win streak, including a perfect 6-0 mark in Prep League games.
Behind the solid pitching of Tatiana Foor, the Kares cruised to a 10-0 victory in six innings.
RHP’s 14th consecutive win secured a Prep League championship for the first time since 2014.
Back then, the Kares shared the league title with Poly, but in 2021, it all theirs.
Foor had a perfect game going before Annabelle Tong reached base on an infield single.
In all, the Rio Hondo Prep junior went five scoreless innings, allowing one hit, not walking anyone and striking out 10.
Raegan Johnson sealed the victory by pitching a perfect sixth inning and retiring the side on three pitches.
RHP scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.
Madison Metz doubled, scored and drove in two runs.
Foor singled, scored three runs and had an RBI.
Grace Pollock doubled and scored three times.
Katelyn Dang singed and scored, and Elle Curtis crossed the plate once for the Kares.
Kaitlynn Key scored and had an RBI.
Rachel Chang had a single in Friday’s win.
Up next: RHP (14-2, 7-0) will complete its Prep League schedule Tuesday at Mayfield.
First pitch is set for 3:30.
