Baseball:
Baseball is a very humbling game.
Bonita went over to last-place Colony (1-15) hoping to strengthen its hold on the second-place slot in the Palomares League.
The Bearcats got two scoreless innings from Edrian Rangel and led 4-0 as they headed into the bottom of the fourth inning.
Colony, however, got four runs in fourth and one in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead as Bonita came to bat in the top of the seventh inning.
Bonita, though, escaped with an 8-5 win after getting four seventh-inning runs.
And after taking the lead, Luke Mistone came in and struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to earn the save.
Riley Litwin was saddled with the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits.
JT Fenton walked, singled, doubled twice and drove in four runs.
Ryan Kozma walked, singled, doubled and scored two runs.
Jordan Sheridan walked three times and scored twice.
Logan Corthell doubled, scored and drove in two runs.
Tyler Holley walked and had an RBI single.
Garrett Patterson walked, singled and scored.
Jacob Flores singled and scored and Mistone walked and scored.
Matthew Bustos was credited with the win, after going two innings and allowing an unearned run on one hit.
He walked one and struck out three.
Nathan Morales had an RBI triple and scored.
Gavin Smith singled, doubled, scored twice and had an RBI.
Connor Rangel doubled, scored and had an RBI for Colony.
Up next: Colony will travel to Bonita on Friday.
