Baseball:
West Covina picked up the two-game, Valle Vista League sweep of Diamond Ranch on Friday.
The Bulldogs pounded out 12 hits in a 12-6 victory.
Erick Rodriguez got the loss after allowing 12 runs (nine earned) on 11 hits over his five innings of work.
He walked three and struck out two WCHS batters.
Jesse Chavez went 4-for-4, with two singles, a double, triple, three runs scored and two RBIs.
Frank Hernandez walked, singled, had two RBIs and scored once.
Thomas Gutierrez and Adrian Gayosso singled and scored in the win.
Evan Buhac went 2-for-4, scored twice and drove in two runs.
Jacob Nguyen walked twice, tripled, scored and had two RBIs.
Victor Mendoza singled, scored and had an RBI, and Brandon Holmes had an RBI base hit.
Edwin Segovia got the win after going four innings and allowing three runs on four hits.
He walked two and struck out three Panthers’ batters.
Cameron Shimokawa walked, doubled, tripled, scored twice and had an RBI for Diamond Ranch.
Up next: West Covina will travel to Charter Oak on Wednesday for the first of two next week with the Chargers.
Charter Oak is coming off a two-game sweep of Covina.
