Marshall Fundamental Takes Over MVL Penthouse After 7-5 Victory at Arroyo; Stukel Drives in 4 Runs

Baseball:

Marshall Fundamental took sole control of first place in the Mission Valley League standings on Wednesday.

In a battle of unbeatens (in league), the Eagles claimed a 7-5 victory at Arroyo.

It got interesting in the final inning, as MF scored five times and the Knights answered with four of their own.

Travis Delgado got the win, going 4 2/3 innings, and allowing one run on three hits.

Delgado walked seven and struck out four.

Arroyo got four unearned runs off of Wes Pendleton in the bottom of the seventh.

Aaron Martinez singled, scored and drove in a run and Michael Valenzuela had an RBI base hit for the Knights.

Jacob Crespin walked, singled, scored and had an RBI, and Ethen Vargas doubled and scored.

Joseph Enriquez singled and scored once for Arroyo.

Max Stukel had half of Marshall’s six hits.

Stukel went 3-for-4, with a run scored and four RBIs.

Devan Kelly walked, singled twice and scored two runs.

Jacob Hernandez walked twice and scored both times.

Ethan Meyers walked twice and scored a run.

Nick Chew walked and had an RBI, and Wes Pendleton scored a run.

Up next: The Eagles will travel to Mountain View on Friday for another MVL contest.

First pitch is set for 3:15.
