Cerecedes Goes Five Scoreless Innings, Matthews Drives in 3 Runs; Ayala Defeats Cypress, 8-2, to Stay Unbeaten

Baseball:

The Ayala victory tour continued on Tuesday at Cypress.

Not to jinx the Bulldogs, but they haven’t dropped a baseball game since May 7 of 2019.

Ayala got three runs in both the second and fourth innings and cruised to an 8-2 victory over the Centurions.

Cypress starter Jason Reid was saddled with the loss.

Reid allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits over his four innings of work.

He walked three, struck out one and allowed a home run to Troy McCain.

McCain also singled, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Mateo Matthews went 2-for-4, with a game-high three RBIs.

Marcus Galvan doubled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.

Damien Delgadillo singled and scored and Ryan Moreno walked twice and scored.

Jacob Badawi singled, scored and had one RBI.

Cole Koniarsky walked and singled.

Thomas Cerecedes went five scoreless innings to pick up the win.

He allowed four hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out two.

Randy Limon and Trent Merrill went one inning apiece and both gave up one run on two hits.

Neil Jansen and Abbrie Covarrubias both had two hits and an RBI apiece.
