Volleyball:

Sometimes a single match can provide a program confidence as they head into the postseason.

And on Thursday night, the Marshall volleyball program showed their character and mettle.

The Lady Eagles trailed their hosts from Gabrielino, 0-2.

However, the girls from Pasadena persevered and edged GHS in five sets.

Marshall won by scores of 20-25, 20-25, 25-19, 25-10 and 15-13.

Livsey Teems had 17 kills.

Aida Movsisyan provided 16 kills and 21 digs.

Noelle Taylor chipped in with 12 kills.

Ashley Dominguez posted a career-best 44 assists, 14 digs and four aces.

Harlem Castro finished with 27 digs.

Up next: The Eagles will host first-place San Marino on Tuesday evening at 5:30.

Quotable:

Marshall coach, Fred Nash: “This match was one of our better matches and we learned how to come from behind. We trailed 2-0, but we competed throughout and the girls never felt like they were going to lose. The team spoke with each other during the second set and held each other accountable, and that flipped the switch for them. We had other players come up big in moments of need and it helped us put more pressure on Gabrielino through out the match.”

Records: Marshall (17-5, 3-4); Gabrielino (11-17-2, 2-5)
