What a difference having your star quarterback made for the Claremont football program.
One week after a 28-13 season-opening loss at Valley View, the Wolfpack got Brandon Coronado back for the home opener against Diamond Bar.
And Coronado was nothing less than a game changer.
He completed 19-of-30 for 324 yards.
Coronado tossed four TD passes and no picks.
He also led the CHS ground game with 55 yards on eight carries and one TD run.
Landon Davis gained 34 yards on nine carries.
Eli Ciszek had a monster game for Claremont.
He caught seven passes for 100 yards and two TDs.
Jesse Bernard reeled in a 78-yard TD from Coronado.
Adan Zacarias had three receptions for 28 yards, including one score.
Josiah Badger totaled three catches for 39 yards.
Davis caught four passes for 40 yards.
Jordan Trice had a 39-yard reception.
With the game tied at 14-14 at the half, Claremont scored 21 third-quarter points to pull away.
Ryan Manning completed 14-of-30 for 178 yards for DBHS.
Manning tossed a pair of TDs and one pick.
Brennan Moreno had a game-high 92 yards rushing on 18 carries, including one TD.
Elliott James caught seven passes for 67 yards and one TD.
Moreno had four receptions for 98 yards and one score.
Up next: The Wolfpack travel to Citrus College to battle Glendora on Thursday night at 7.
The Tartans (1-1) secured a 41-8 victory at Walnut in their week-one contest.

Diamond Bar had some exceptional athletes that we knew we were going to have to contend with. We made mistakes in all three phases—offense, defense, and special teams—but being able to score before halftime expired gave us some important momentum going into the second half. Defensively, I thought we were opportunistic. We created a couple of turnovers, got pressure on the quarterback, and came up with some important sacks. Offensively, we were inconsistent at times, but we were able to create a few explosive, game-breaking plays when we needed them. There’s plenty for us to clean up, but we’ll learn from it, get back to work, and move on to the next one.”
