Boys Hoops:

Glendora and Walnut met up twice at GHS in a span of 48 hours.

On Monday, the Tartans defeated the Mustangs, 80-58, in the regular season finale.

However, GHS and WHS had to battle one more time to determine the Palomares League’s No. 3 spot and the last automatic playoff berth.

Once again, Glendora put up 80 points on the scoreboard, and it was good enough for a 13-point victory.

The Mustangs went on a third quarter run that saw the Tartans lead go from 15 to 3.

But GHS responded well, and the long range WHS shots stopped falling.

In all, Walnut had a 12-6 advantage in 3-pointers made.

Jeremiah Vasquez scored a game-high 25 points.

Vasquez hit five 3’s, including four in the final period.

All 15 points by Chris Hernandez came from beyond the 3-point arc.

Glendora’s Jeremiah Garzon scored 15 of his team-high 19 points in the second half.

Garzon had three rebounds and he went 3-for-4 from the free-throw line.

GHS junior Noah Rangel continues to shine of late.

Rangel had 18 points, two rebounds and three assists.

Moshe Loucks contributed 12 points, including a pair of 3’s, and two boards.

Max Hilgenfeldt added eight points, five rebounds and six assists.

Cole Van Woerkom hit a pair of 3’s, and he finished with eight points and a rebound.

Tanner Grable provided eight points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Walnut hurt its postseason chances by finishing the regular season on a five-game losing streak.
