Baseball:
Charter Oak controls its own destiny.
After splitting the two-game Valle Vista League series with Covina, the Chargers can finish as high as second place.
COHS claimed an 8-5 victory over their visitors from CHS.
Marcus Reese went six innings to earn the win, and he allowed a pair of unearned runs on five hits.
Reese issued one walk and struck out nine Covina batters.
Donovan Rendon had a two-run double in the top of the seventh and he scored one run.
Ryan Sarver went 2-for-3, with a run and one RBI.
Noah Echeverria had an RBI single and scored.
Donovan Johnson singled, doubled and drove in a run.
Lucas Thorpe singled and scored.
Cesar Guzman got the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Guzman walked three and struck out three COHS batters.
Julian Salmon walked twice, singled, scored three runs and drove in a pair.
Jorge Aceves walked, singled, doubled, scored and had two RBIs.
Zack Escalera singled and scored two runs.
