Girls Basketball:
Marshall Fundamental’s successful 2023-24 season came to an end on Wednesday evening.
But not before a 20-win season, a second-place finish in the Mission Valley League, and a trip to the CIF-SS Division 4AA quarterfinal round.
Canyon of Anaheim defeated the Eagles, 56-49, in Pasadena.
The Comanches outscored the Eagles in the first three periods, and they took a 45-34 lead into the final eight minutes.
Marshall went on a 15-11 run in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to overcome an 11-point deficit.
Sofi Majidi led Canyon with 21 points.
Justine Prajitno contributed 20 points in the Comanches win.
Jolynn Abilar led the Eagles with 18 points.
Destiny Ihiaso provided nine points and Elizabeth Ekpo had seven in the loss.
Madelyn Degooyer and Maryn Goodwin scored six points apiece for Marshall.
