Boys Basketball:
Etiwanda claimed round one of the Baseline League heavyweight showdown with their visitors from Damien.
The Eagles defeated the Spartans, 49-39, on Thursday night in a battle of 4-0 programs.
Damien scored nearly 30 points less than its 69 point-per-game average, and Etiwanda was down 17 points from their usual 66.
Christian Harris had a game-high 18 points for the Eagles, including four 3-pointers.
Harris hit three 3’s in the third period, when EHS had a 16-12 advantage.
Nate Garcia led Damien with 17 points.
Jacob Allen finished with 12 points and Xavier Clinton had eight.
Zion Booker chipped in with nine points for Etiwanda, and Carrington Pierce provided seven points.
