Baseball:
Kaden Moeller is becoming a must-see SGV baseball player.
If he’s not closing out dramatic wins, he blasting home runs.
On Tuesday, he did both.
Moeller homered twice, including a grand slam, drove in six runs and secured the save on the mound.
Damien held on for a 13-10 victory over Chaminade.
The slugfest featured 23 combined runs, 28 hits, 12 pitchers and four errors.
Peter Michael was the fourth of five Chaminade pitchers and he got the loss.
Michael allowed Damien’s 11th run and then the Spartans got two more of of Sean Youngerman.
In all, Moeller went 3-for-4, with two home runs, including a grand slam, three runs scored and six RBIs.
Matt Clark walked twice, singled, homered, scored two runs and drove in a pair.
Tyler Daley singled, doubled, had two RBIs and scored twice.
Ivan Aguirre walked, singled twice and scored two runs.
Joel Porter had three singles and he scored a pair of runs.
Alec Beck walked, singled and scored.
Jason Armendarez went 2-for-4, with an RBI and JD Dunn singled, doubled, scored and had an RBI.
Damien featured seven pitchers, none of which went more than 1 2/3 innings.
Dylan Alanis went 1 1/3 innings and was the pitcher of record when Damien took its lead and Kaden Moeller picked up the save by striking out the side in the seventh inning to close off his remarkable day.
Oskar Stark walked twice, scored two runs and his grand slam highlighted the Eagles output on Tuesday.
Miles Ghossein went 3-for-3, including a double, two runs scored and an RBI for Chaminade.
