COHS Get Six Solid Innings From Anthony Vasquez & Chargers Offense Delivers Late in Friday’s 5-3 Victory at Agoura in D-3 Opener

Better late than never!

Charter Oak trailed Agoura, 3-0, in the top of the fifth inning of Friday’s CIF-SS Division 3 first-round playoff game.

The Chargers would get two in the fifth and sixth innings and one in the seventh to pick up a 5-3 road victory.

Anthony Vasquez went six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits to earn the win.

Vasquez walked three and struck out eight Agoura batters.

Evan Avitia secured the win with a perfect seventh inning in relief, and in the process, the Chargers senior earned the save.

Avitia struck out one of the three batters he faced.

Joey Blank singled, doubled, scored and had an RBI for Agoura.

Myles Kallinger walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.

Jake Price went 2-for-4, with two RBIs.

COHS got two runs on four hits off Ryan Graul, and another two runs on five hits against Cooper Bowen.

Anthony Vasquez had an RBI single in the fifth inning to get COHS on the board.

Chris Gonzales would single in the Chargers second run, and Charter Oak trailed 3-2 after five innings.

Diego Ortiz’s RBI single in the sixth tied the game at 3-3, and the Chargers took their first lead after an error by the Agoura shortstop.

Alejandro Blanquet’s RBI double in the top of the seventh gave COHS an insurance run and a 5-3 lead.

Dave Montoya walked and scored in the seventh inning.

Montoya also had a pair of singles.

Nathan Arevalos singled twice and scored a pair of runs.

Diego Ortiz went 2-for-2, with an RBI.

Trevor Dultz walked and scored.

Evan Avtia scored once in Friday’s win.

Up next: COHS will host Grace Brethren on Tuesday.

The Lancers (15-10) defeated visiting West Torrance, 3-1, on Friday.
