Baseball:
After having its nine-game win streak snapped on Tuesday, the Northview baseball program started a new streak on Wednesday.
The Vikings defeated Woods Cross of Utah, 8-3, behind a complete-game effort from Sal Batres.
Batres allowed three runs on five hits.
He walked two and struck out six to earn the win.
Dax Weierman tripled and scored.
Taylor Ayala and Dylan Williams singled and scored one run apiece.
Gunnar Russell doubled in a run for the Wildcats.
Blake Stanger was saddled with the loss.
Stanger surrendered seven runs on seven hits and five walks in just 2 2/3 innings.
Dean Curley singled, doubled, scored twice and had one RBI from the leadoff spot.
Ivan Barragan walked, doubled and scored two runs.
Nick Peoples walked, doubled, drove in one run and scored twice.
Batres went 2-for-2, with an RBI.
Matt Salgado walked, singled, drove in two runs and scored once.
Isaiah Cruz walked, doubled and scored a pair of runs.
Gilbert Lopez scored and had an RBI in Wednesday’s win.
Up next: The first-place Vikings will sweep last-place and winless Diamond Ranch (0-11) on Wednesday and Friday of next week.
