Baseball:
After starting the season 2-2, Marshall Fundamental has found its stride, and won four consecutive games.
The Eagles got four runs in the bottom of the second inning on Friday, and defeated visiting Village Christian, 5-4, in a nonleague contest.
Travis Delgado went the distance to pick up the win.
Delgado allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits.
He walked two and fanned eight Crusaders’ batters.
Kale O’Donnell singled, doubled and scored.
Owen Minzes singled and scored, and Bijan Beers had an RBI single.
Matt Marin singled twice and drove in a run.
O’Donnell went the first four innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits.
He walked four and fanned three Marshall batters.
Winston Peterson provided two innings of relief, and it was a fifth-inning run on a wild pitch that ended up being the difference.
Peterson allowed one hit, walked one and fanned one MF batter.
Delgado doubled, tripled and scored.
Ryan Pandullo and Wes Pendleton singled and scored one run each.
Up next: Marshall will open Mission Valley League play on Wednesday, as they host Arroyo at 3:15.
