Up next: The Owls will host Antelope Valley on Tuesday at 2 in the first of a three-game set with the third-place Marauders.

Quotable:

Citrus coach, Andy Smith: “Tuesday’s game got away from us, and while we’re in a conference title race right now, it was an important loss. We challenged the guys in their competitiveness and authentic efforts they were putting out. This game demands your best at all times, and will humble you quickly. I’m very proud of how the guys responded. It was a fail forward situation for us for sure. Our QAB leader this week was easily Nick Velazquez. He’s taking outstanding at-bats, seeing a lot of pitches, squaring balls up, and letting the game come to him, even if he isn’t lighting up box scores. Jordan Daniels, Derek Almeda and Jackson Gray had strong weeks offensively. Patty gave us another great start today. This conference is extremely competitive. Anyone can go out and beat you on any given day. We need to keep the train rolling with another tough opponent this upcoming week in AVC. They’re having another good year and can really hit. We’re excited for it.”
