Baseball:
Ayala remained in dominant mode in Palomares League play.
After a three-game sweep of Glendora by a margin of 29-4, the Bulldogs opened their three-game set with Walnut on Tuesday afternoon.
AHS scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first, and they cruised to a 14-1 victory over the Mustangs.
Ayala out-hit Walnut, 19-6.
Dylan Nunez got the start and the loss.
Nunez was charged with eight runs on eight hits and only got one out before he was pulled.
Ayala got five more runs (two earned) off Nick Tavares in two innings on three hits and a pair of walks.
Isaiah Munoz provided 3 2/3 innings in relief, and he only surrendered an unearned run on four hits.
Munoz didn’t issue a walk and struck out a pair of Bulldogs.
Jonah Boyd had a big day, going 4-for-5 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs.
Sarmiento helped his own cause with a single and two RBIs.
Jaden Valenzuela went 2-for-2 with a walk and three runs.
Ayden Lomeli had an RBI double.
Aidan Erlandsen walked, singled, doubled, scored a pair of runs and drove in one.
Codey Brown went 2-for-3 with a double and one run.
Dylan Wood singled twice, scored and drove in a pair of runs, including one via sac fly.
Caleb Trugman singled and scored.
Eric Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Aiden Granados singled and scored.
Ryan Richardson and Elijah Duarte singled once each for AHS.
Easton Sarmiento went three scoreless innings and allowed three hits.
Sarmiento walked two and fanned four Walnut batters.
Nolan Chuang provided two innings of relief, allowing an unearned run on one hit.
Chuang walked one and struck out two.
Aiden Cosico and Gerson Hoebing both went one scoreless inning apiece for Ayala.
Cosico got two of his three outs via strikeout.
Jacob Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a double and one RBI.
Adam Lenero, Dillan Lobo, Jonah Linn and Nate Leyva had one single apiece for WHS.
Up next: The Bulldogs travel to Walnut on Thursday at 3:30.
