Baseball:
Etiwanda will enter Baseline League play next week with a little momentum.
The Eagles are coming off a pair of National Classic wins, including Thursday’s 11-0 victory over La Jolla Country Day at Yorba Linda High School.
Jack Holguin silenced the Torreys’ bats.
Holguin allowed a leadoff single in the top of the sixth, and that was it.
He didn’t issue a walk and registered eight strikeouts.
He got seven separate batters on strikes at least once.
And 41 of his 61 pitches were strikes.
Simon Garrity had the one single for LJCD.
Andy Vo got the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits over four innings.
Vo walked four and struck out six EHS batters.
Derick Kim went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs.
Jaeden Toki walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Luke Severns tripled, scored and had one RBI.
Ryan Severns went 1-for-3 with a walk, double and two runs.
Thomas Sanchez walked, doubled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Justin Jackson singled twice and scored.
Luke Mendoza went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Frank Gonzales scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.
James Milam walked and scored.
LJ Roellig singled, scored and had one RBI.
Up next: The Eagles open Baseline League play on Monday at Damien.
