Montes Goes Distance & Allows One Run in Los Altos’ 2-1 Victory Over SDHS; Barrera Hit 2-Run HR for Conquerors

Los Altos picked up their first Hacienda League win of the season after Friday’s 2-1 victory over their visitors from San Dimas.

Carlos Montes went the distance for the Conquerors and allowed one run on four hits.

Montes walked two and fanned a pair of Saints.

In the top of the third inning, SDHS took a 1-0 lead after Josh Calcanas doubled and Vaughn Coleman drove him home on a sac fly.

Coleman, Jason Almeda and AJ Larios singled to account for the rest of the San Dimas offense.

Joseph Layva went 4 2/3 innings, and he was charged with two runs on six hits.

Layva didn’t issue a walk and struck out three LAHS batters.

James Rocha provided 1 1/3 innings of scoreless and hitless relief for San Dimas.

Nathan Barrera’s two-run HR in the bottom of the fifth inning was the difference.

Andrew Ochoa doubled and scored.

Mikey Arroyo, Logan Guevara, Diego Ortiz and Jacob Vargas had one single apiece for Los Altos.

Up next: The Saints will battle Canyon (9-4) today (Saturday) at 2 at the Great Park Complex in Irvine.
