College Baseball:
The only thing that stood between PCC and a potential three-game SCC series sweep of Compton was Mother Nature.
In between Thursday’s rainout, the Lancers defeated the Tartars, 16-2, on Tuesday, 4-3 in 10 innings on Saturday.
Connor Campbell went the first six innings, and he allowed one run on four hits.
Campbell walked four and struck out six.
Matt Garcia got the win after going a scoreless eighth, ninth and tenth innings.
Garcia allowed one walk, didn’t issue a walk and struck out one.
Quincy Quintero went 3-for-3, drew a pair of walks and scored.
Ian Wilson singled twice and scored.
Zaid Humphrey had an RBI single.
Kevin Ramirez went 2-for-4.
Kurtis Song singled, scored and walked with the bases loaded in the top of the second inning.
PCC got to Gabriel Lizarraga for two runs on three hits and four walks over 5 1/3 innings.
Matthew Torres was charged with the loss after surrendering two runs on four hits over four innings of work.
Torres didn’t walk a batter, and he fanned a trio of Lancers.
Tyler Garcia’s two-run HR in the bottom of the sixth gave PCC its first lead at 3-1.
And Garcia’s RBI single in the 10th secured the win.
Joaquin Salcedo walked, singled and scored two runs.
Adrian Roman went 2-for-5 with a run and one RBI.
Bryan Richman had a pair of singles in five at-bats.
Omar Cisneros singled once.
Up next: The Lancers host Golden West on Wednesday at 2 in a nonconference contest.
