College Baseball:
With four games to play, and thanks to a Mt. SAC win, and a Long Beach loss, the Mounties are now just one-game back of the second-place Vikings in the South Coast Conference standings.
On Thursday, MSAC hammered LA Harbor, 12-2, and the Mounties seven-game current win streak is an SCC best.
They out-hit their visitors, 14-5.
Alejandor Izquierda got the loss after allowing 10 runs (six earned) on 11 hits over five innings.
Izquierda issued a pair of walks and struck out four Mt. SAC batters.
Diego Ortiz went 2-for-3, with a run and three RBIs.
Bradyn France hit a solo HR, had an RBI single, sac fly, and he scored two runs.
Daniel Briones walked, singled, doubled, scored three runs and had one RBI.
Kaden Moeller singled, doubled and scored a pair of runs.
Andrew Walters walked, singled twice, scored and had one RBI.
Blake Hagerty doubled and scored.
Gibby Morales walked, singled, scored and drove in one.
Nick Mejia had an RBI single.
Andrew Ramirez singled, scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Kyle Calzadiaz earned the win.
He went seven innings, and he allowed two runs on three hits.
Calzadiaz didn’t issue a walk and struck out nine LA Harbor batters.
Julian Galvan singled and had an RBI double.
Randy Martinez singled twice and scored in the loss.
Up next: The Mounties hope to secure a three-game sweep Saturday at LA Harbor.
