Baseball:
It was far closer than they would have preferred, but Charter Oak secured the two-game Valle Vista League sweep of Diamond Ranch.
After a 1-0 victory on Wednesday, the Chargers edged the Panthers, 5-4, and they find themselves in sole possession of second place in the VVL standings.
Marcus Reese earned the win after going four innings and allowing three runs on seven hits.
Reese walked one and fanned three Diamond Ranch batters.
Keith Houdashelt was hit by pitch, and had three RBI’s, including two via sac fly.
Fernando Jimenez singled twice and scored.
Sebastian De La Rocha went 2-for-3, with a walk, run and one RBI.
Robert Ham singled and doubled.
Ethan Lomeli went the distance for the Panthers, allowing five runs on 13 hits.
Lomeli didn’t issue a walk and struck out four COHS batters.
Jorge Aceves went 2-for-4, with three RBIs.
Zack Escalera had a pair of singles and he scored two runs.
Moses Medrano singled, doubled and drove in one run.
Martin Luna singled, doubled, scored and had one RBI.
Julian Salmon singled and doubled, and Diego Ramirez had a pair of singles.
Michael Zubia singled in Friday’s win.
Up next: The Chargers travel to Covina on Wednesday at 3:30.
