This might not be the deepest or most talented program PCC has fielded in the last seven-plus years.

But these young men battle their asses off and they’re still in contention for a postseason berth.

The Lancers claimed a 15-10 slugfest over their visitors from Compton.

The win also evened the three-game South Coast Conference series at 1-1.

Compton and PCC combined for 25 runs, 31 hits, seven errors and seven pitchers.

But there was never a single lead change after PCC scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Jameson Ferraro went six innings to earn the win.

Ferraro allowed six runs (four earned) on 10 hits.

He issued one walk and fanned five Compton batters.

Connor Campbell would earn the three-inning save, and he was charged with four runs (three earned) on five hits.

Campbell walked three, struck out a trio of Tartars, but most importantly, he got out of jams in the seventh and eighth innings.

Kevin Ramirez went 3-for-5, with a double, three runs and two RBIs.

Deegan Grgas walked, doubled, tripled, scored and had one RBI.

Emilio Morales went 3-for-6, with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Jalen Ringwood walked and had an RBI triple.

Isaac Vega singled, scored and drove in two.

Quincy Quintero had three singles.

Vinny Avalos went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs.

Javier Lopez was saddled with the loss.

Lopez surrendered eight runs (five earned) on eight hits over his 3 1/3 innings.

Lopez walked one and fanned one PCC batter.

Bryan Richman, one of the state’s best examples of a ‘gamer’ at 5-foot-4, went 4-for-5, with a double, triple, three runs and two RBIs.

Ironically, the only time Compton got Richman out was a 15 or so pitch at-bat in the eighth, in which he took a called third strike.

Evan Nahra had a big day for the Lancers.

Nahra singled, doubled, tripled, scored and drove in a game-high four RBIs.

Jack Esguerra continues to produce at the plate.

The former Arcadia High standout singled, scored and had a two-run double.

Mark Manuel walked, singled, doubled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.

Tyler Garcia singled, doubled, scored twice and had two RBIs.

Adrian Roman walked, singled and scored two runs.

Ivan Barragan singled and scored a pair of runs.

Devin Munoz singled, scored twice and drove in one.

With four games remaining in SCC play, PCC is tied for the No. 4 spot with El Camino.
