Donovann Jackson Goes Seven Innings, Allowing Two Runs & Struck Out Eight in Chaffey’s 17-2 IEAC Victory Over Cerro Coso

College Baseball:

Chaffey secured a three-game Inland Empire Athletic Conference sweep over fourth-place Cerro Coso.

And the Panthers did so in dominant form.

Chaffey outscored Cerro Coso, 33-5, over the three-game set, including Saturday’s 14-2 home victory.

They out-hit their visitors, 17-2, and pulled to within one-half a game behind first-place Mt. San Jacinto.

Former Glendora pitcher Donovann Jackson earned the win after going seven innings and allowing two runs on two hits.

Jackson issued two walks and struck out eight.

Garren Gledhill singled and scored.

Gavin Frasier singled to account for the Coyotes other base hit on Saturday.

Brandon Donohue got the loss.

Donohue went three innings and surrendered six runs on eight hits.

He walked two and fanned a pair of Chaffey batters.

PJ Torrez walked, scored three times, had a two-RBI double and a two-run HR.

Former San Dimas stud, Ryder Young, walked, singled, doubled, tripled and scored twice.

Jacob Billings went 3-for-4, with a walk, triple, three runs and a pair of RBIs.

Aaron Whobrey singled, doubled and scored.

Ryan Melton had a two-run double.

Andrew Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with one run and an RBI.

Devean Alvarez singled twice and drove in two runs.

Yahir Ramirez walked, singled, drove in two and scored.

Up next: The Panthers travel to picturesque Barstow on Tuesday at 2.
