Boys Basketball:
In those rare instances that Damien loses a basketball game, Mike LeDuc’s boys never fail to respond with a win.
And such was the case on Saturday.
Two days after a 10-point Baseline League loss at Etiwanda, the Spartans faced Lynwood in the State Preview at Colony High School.
Damien defeated Lynwood, 75-66, and improved to 19-4.
The Knights outscored the Spartans by eight points in the fourth quarter to make the game look closer than it was.
Eli Garner scored a game-high 28 points.
Garner had 10 points in the first period to help Damien take a 12-point lead.
Nate Garcia provided 24 points in the win.
Xavier Clinton hit a pair of 3’s and finished with 17 points.
Jason Crowe led Lynwood with 28 points and Jahaz Wright contributed 22 in the loss.
Up next: The Spartans travel to Upland on Monday at 6:30.
