Boys Athlete of the Week:
Rancho Cucamonga and Los Osos met up this past week after securing a three-game Baseline League sweep over Upland and Chino Hills, respectively.
Many believe they’re the two most talented teams in a competitive and talented league.
RCHS did itself a huge favor thanks to 3-2, 3-1 (8 innings) and 5-2 victories over the Grizzlies on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, respectively.
And nobody had a bigger part than senior, Jacob Peyton.
Peyton started the week slowly with just a walk on Monday.
On Wednesday, though, Peyton went 2-for-4.
That included a two-run HR in the top of the eighth inning to drive in the game winning runs.
Peyton made sure of the sweep by going the distance on the mound and allowing two runs on five hits.
He issued two walks and registered 12 strikeouts.
Peyton got nine separate Grizzlies on strikes at least once.
And the icing on the cake was Peyton’s three-run HR in the bottom of the third inning to give RCHS a 3-1 lead.
