Baseball:

After claiming 7-5, 8-7 and 10-9 Palomares League victories in its last three games, Ayala decided they needed a break from the drama.

So Matt Yarc went out and shut down the Claremont bats.

Yarc went 6 2/3 innings and allowed one run on two hits in an 9-1 victory at Claremont.

Yarc walked five and fanned eight.

Sebastian Oliva got the game’s final out.

Ben Gallegos singled and had an RBI and Justin Gonzalez had the other CHS base hit.

Luke Porras walked twice and scored.

Wyatt Green was charged with seven runs (six earned) on six hits over 2 1/3 innings.

Green walked three and fanned a trio of AHS batters.

Ethan Nunez had two doubles, a run and one RBI.

Aiden Erlandsen walked, singled, scored twice and had a pair of RBIs.

Anthony Hernandez walked twice and scored.

Andrew Torres singled, scored and had an RBI.

Elijah Duarte singled, drove in two and scored.

Caleb Trugman singled and scored.

Thomas Estepa went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Gavin Reed and Dylan Wood singled in Thursday’s win.

Up next: Ayala hosts Glendora on Tuesday and travels to GHS on Thursday.
