Baseball:
Charter Oak remained unscathed in Valle Vista League play.
The Chargers defeated visiting West Covina, 4-1, on Tuesday.
Athen Malone went 5 2/3 innings and surrendered just one run on two hits to earn the win.
Malone walked three and fanned nine WCHS batters.
Chris Gonzalez got the final four outs to secure the save, including three via strikeout.
Tony Macon singled twice and scored.
Michael Reyes doubled, and Marcua Mayweather singled to account for the other two WCHS base hits.
Edwin Segovia got the loss, but he pitched his butt off.
Segovia was charged with four unearned runs on four hits over his six innings.
Segovia didn’t issue a walk and struck out eight COHS batters.
Diego Ortiz went 2-for-3, with a run and an RBI.
Chris Gonzalez singled twice and had a pair of RBIs.
Nathan Arevalos and Athen Malone had one single apiece for COHS.
Moses Medrano and Samuel Morales scored one run apiece.
