Baseball:
South Hills claimed two Hacienda League victories on Friday over Wilson.
And the Huskies pitching staff didn’t allow a single run all day.
South Hills defeated Wilson, 3-0, in game one.
And a couple hours later, SHHS improved to 4-0 in league by defeating the Wildcats, 4-0, in game two.
Jeremiah Valdez went the distance for Wilson, allowing three runs on five hits.
Valdez issued one walk and struck out four South Hills batters.
Noah Malone’s three-run home run in the fourth was the difference.
Steven Jimenez doubled twice and scored.
Luke Bauer walked and scored.
Matt Moreno and Malakai Pelayo had one hit apiece for the Huskies.
Justin Romero, Daniel Camou and Elias Reyes combined on a five-hit shutout.
Camou went three innings, allowing one hit and striking out five.
Romero and Reyes went two innings apiece and both tallied one strikeout each.
Andrew Reynoso had two of Wilson’s five hits.
In game two, five South Hills pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout.
The Huskies completed the sweep with a 4-0 victory.
Anthony Gaona and Joseph Moreno went two innings apiece, while Matt Moreno, Luke Bauer and Steven Jimenez provided one scoreless inning each.
The five combined to walk two and strike out seven.
Logan Guevara and Samuel Ruezega had one single apiece to account for the Wildcats offense.
Ruezga got the loss after surrendering three runs on two hits over 3 2/3 innings.
He walked one and struck out four.
Matt Moreno’s three-run shot in the fourth was more than enough for the Huskies pitching staff.
Moreno finished with two of South Hills’ three hits.
Paul Vazquez doubled and scored
Steven Jimenez walked twice and scored a pair of runs.
Up next: SHHS will face Servite on Monday at 2.
