Baseball:
Marshall Fundamental opened Mission Valley League play with a pair of victories this weekend.
On Friday, the Eagles edged Arroyo, 2-1, and on Saturday, they defeated Mountain View, 7-3, at home.
Wes Pendleton went the distance and allowed one run on three hits.
Pendleton walked one and struck out 10.
Julian Barajas went 6 1/3 innings and allowed both runs on three hits.
Barajas walked three and fanned seven.
Jesus Flores singled twice and drove in a run.
Pendleton had the Eagles only other base hit.
Caleb Delgado’s sac fly in the sixth inning turned out to be the game-winning RBI.
Nate Callaway and Trevor Lain both scored in Friday’s win.
Saturday:
Nate Callaway went 3-for-3, with two runs and an RBI.
Ben Muro singled and scored.
Jesus Flores singled, scored and drove in a run.
Derek Esparza singled and had an RBI.
Marcoantonio Augilar got the loss after allowing seven runs (three earned) on six hits over her four innings of work.
Up next: The Eagles travel to Gabrielino today (Monday) at 3:30.
