Baseball:
Athen Malone pitched well enough to win on Friday.
The Charter Oak junior went four innings and allowed three runs on five hits.
Ayala, however, would get five runs off Christopher Gonzalez, including four in the top of the seventh inning to catch the Chargers at 8-8.
COHS would get a walk-off victory in the bottom of the seventh on a Samuel Morales base hit.
The Chargers got four runs (three earned) off Bryan Yang and four (one earned) more from Jeremy Byers.
Daniel Hirota walked and drove in two runs.
Anthony Vasquez singled, doubled, scored and had one RBI.
Diego Ortiz singled and drove in a pair of runs.
Malone doubled and had an RBI in the win.
Dominic Almazan walked and singled twice.
Ayala out-hit COHS, 12-9.
Jake Lemoine singled, doubled twice, scored and had a game-high four RBIs.
Andrew Torres walked, singled, doubled, scored and drove in a run.
Marcus Galvan walked, singled and scored two runs.
Aiden Erlandsen walked twice, singled twice and scored three times.
Ethan Ybanez singled and drove in two runs.
Enrique Ybanez had two singles and scored.
