Arcadia Wins Pacific League Championship After Friday’s 3-2, Walk-Off Victory Over CV; Hoffstetter Went Distance for Apaches

Apr 30 2022 04:20:41

Baseball:

The only thing that Arcadia could find as satisfying as having to beat Crescenta Valley to win a Pacific League championship is needing one run in the bottom of the sixth and two more in the seventh to accomplish that feat.

The Apaches tailed 1-0 after five innings of play and 2-1 as they headed into the bottom of the sixth, but the Apaches would rally for a 3-2, walk-off victory.

With a sweep in 2022, Arcadia extended its head-to-head win streak over the Falcons to six games.

CV hasn’t defeated the Apaches since May 11th of 2018.

But back to Friday’s thriller.

Lance Wong and Ari Nurhadi singled in the bottom of the sixth inning and Wong would eventually score on a Daniel Chavez sac fly to get Arcadia to within 2-1.

In the seventh, Zach Huerta walked and Hunter Victorio reached base on an error, which allowed Huerta to go to third base.

Jack Esguerra’s RBI single tied the game at 2-2.

And Esguerra would score the game-winnng run when Nurhadi walked with the bases loaded.

Alex Dolan singled and doubled for Arcadia.

As mentioned, Wong had the one hit and scored once.

Nurhadi walked, singled and had an RBI.

And Esguerra singled, scored and had an RBI.

Ian Hoffstetter continued his excellence with another complete-game effort.

Hoffstetter allowed two runs on four hits.

He walked three and fanned five CV batters.

Zack Petersen walked, singled and scored.

Jameson Ferraro walked and scored.

Kris McCollum singled and had an RBI.

Nico Terenzi and J Deno had one single apiece for the Falcons.

CV’s Connor Campbell got the loss, going 6 2/3 innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits.

He walked four and struck out five Arcadia batters.
