Damien scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning and claimed a 4-3 victory at Rancho Cucamonga.
The Spartans have now won the first two games of their three-game series against the Cougars to take a one-game lead over RCHS in the Baseline League standings.
Even if Rancho Cucamonga defeated Damien in game three, the Spartans would still own the tiebreaker
Dylan Escobar went five innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits.
Escobar walked two and struck out one Damien batter.
Jonathan Morales got the loss, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits over his two innings of work.
He walked two and fanned one.

After missing the entire season thus far, the Spartans’ junior has been a contributor in both wins this week.
On Wednesday, Daley singled twice scored a pair of runs, and hit a solo blast in the third inning.
Julian Hines singled, scored and had an RBI.
Nikko Paoletto walked and scored.
Seth Sumner started and allowed three runs on seven hits over 4 2/ innings.
Sumner walked four and fanned five RCHS batters.
Justin Ries got the win after getting the last seven outs without any further damage.
Ries allowed one hit and walked one.
James Rivera singled twice, scored and drove in two of RCHS’ three runs.
Jacob McCombs singled twice, doubled and scored two runs.
Owen Dunn singled twice and had one RBI.
