Maranatha Cruises to 8-2 Victory Over Village Christian; Minutemen Close Out Regular Season w/11-1 Record in Olympic League Play

Baseball:

Maranatha closed out the 2022 regular season with an 8-2 victory over visiting Village Christian.

After a one-run Olympic League setback on March 18th, MHS would win their final nine league games.

Mike Ebner got the win after going 4 1/3 innings and allowing two runs on five hits.

Ebner walked one and struck out four VCHS batters.

Owen Minzes singled twice and scored.

Winston Peterson singled and drove in a run.

Alex Freund singled and scored for Village Christian.

Cade Nightingale got the loss, allowing six runs (four earned) on 11 hits.

Nightingale went four innings, walked two and struck out a pair of MHS batters.

Angelo Aleman walked twice, singled, scored three runs and had one RBI.

Ebner singled three times, scored and had an RBI.

Donovan Gonsal walked and singled twice.

Nick Cook had an RBI base hit.

Nicholas Sartor walked, singled and scored.

Will Allen doubled and scored.

Petey Rodriguez singled, scored and had an RBI.

Up next: Maranatha will wait until Monday to get their first-round opponent in the CIF-SS playoffs.
