Baseball:
What a Tuesday it was for the Arcadia baseball program.
For starters, the Apaches scored three runs in the top of the 11th inning and pick up a 4-1 victory at Crescenta Valley.
Arcadia also got some help from Burbank, who defeated Burroughs, 2-1, in nine innings.
With one game to play, the Apaches now hold a one-game lead over both Burroughs and Burbank.
Daniel Chavez went eight innings and allowed just one run on four hits.
Chavez walked four and fanned five CV batters.
Gabriel Lopez got the win, going three scoreless and hitless innings.
Lopez walked one and struck out four.
Zack Petersen singled twice and scored CV’s lone run.
Jameson Ferraro went eight innings for the Falcons, and allowed just one run on eight hits.
Ferraro walked one and struck out five Arcadia batters.
Scoring three runs in the top of the 11th winning was satisfying enough for the Apaches, but a close second would be the fact that the rally started with two outs.
Evan Huang walks, Jack Esguerra singled and Alex Dolan was hit-by-pitch to load the bases.
One batter later, Lance Wong’s double cleared the bases.
Wong finished 2-for-3, and the three RBIs.
Daniel Chavez singled twice, doubled and scored.
Evan Huang singled, walked and scored.
Alex Dolan singled and scored.
Jack Esguerra singled twice and scored.
Zach Huerta’s RBI base hit in the top of the second inning gave AHS a 1-0 lead.
