Baseball:
Garrett Patterson put Bonita on his back in Thursday’s 7-0 victory at Colony.
The Bearcats win, coupled with an Ayala loss at Glendora, allowed BHS to secure the Palomares League’s No. 1 spot in the CIF-SS playoffs.
With two games remaining, Bonita leads second-place Ayala by two games, and the Bearcats went 3-0 this season against the Bulldogs.
Patterson threw a four-hit shutout, didn’t issue a walk and struck out 11 Colony batters.
Of his 89 pitches, Patterson threw 66 for strikes.
Connor Rangel had two of the Titans’ four hits.
Domenic Gonzalez and Riley Litwin singled once each for Colony.
Alejandro Gomez surrendered four runs on three hits and three walks.
Bryan Bradshaw singled, doubled, scored two runs and had two RBIs.
Tyler Holley walked twice, singled and scored twice.
Luke Mistone walked, singled, scored and drove in a run.
Adrian Lopez walked, singled, doubled and had three RBIs.
Seth Wrightstone walked three times, singled and had an RBI.
JT Fenton and Diego Vazquez singled and scored one run apiece.
