Baseball:

Marshall Fundamental did what good teams do.

They beat up on an inferior program.

The Eagles defeated Cathedral, 9-1, on Saturday.

Two Marshall pitchers combined on a one hitter.

Aaron Hernandez got the loss after allowing five runs on five hits in three innings of work.

Hernandez walked four and struck out one Marshall batter.

Sam Karp singled three times, scored and had an RBI.

Andrew Quijada tripled and scored.

Wes Pendleton walked twice, doubled, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Conrad Hunziker singled, scored and had two RBIs.

Jacob Hernandez singled, drove in a run on a sac fly and scored.

Caleb Delgado walked and scored, and Devan Kelly walked and had an RBI.

Travis Delgado went six innings to earn the win.

Delgado allowed one run on one hit.

He walked one and fanned seven Cathedral batters.

Wes Pendleton contributed a perfect inning of relief to secure the win.

Owen Dulfemeier had an RBI double for the Phantoms.

Up next: Marshall will host Brentwood on Tuesday.
