Baseball:

The schedule will say that Flintridge Prep dropped a 2-0 decision at Monrovia on Saturday.

And that is accurate.

But the Wolves are better preparing themselves for the playoffs by competing against programs of Monrovia’s caliber.

Max Brunngraber went the distance for the Wolves and got the loss.

Brunngraber allowed just two sixth-inning runs, scattered three hits.

He walked three and fanned six Monrovia batters.

Michael Castelli singled and had both RBIs.

Jack Zinn walked, singled and scored, and Ryan Oliva walked and scored.

Anthony Chiovare walked and singled for the Wildcats.

Donovan Lorenzini (two innings), Zachary Menlove (1), Andrew Primucci (3) and Tyler Mitchell (1) combined on a four-hit shutout.

Nick Gonzalez, Spencer Seid, JR Kully and Max Brunngraber had one single apiece for the Wolves.

Up next: Monrovia will host La Canada on Tuesday.

Flintridge Prep meets up with Rio Hondo Prep on Wednesday at the Glendale Sports Complex.
