Loyola Gets 2-1, Walk-Off Victory Over First-Place Notre Dame; Ryan Times’ Third Hit of Game Clinches Win

After falling 4-3 in 10 innings on Monday to the Mission League’s first-place team, Loyola found itself in a character-defining moment on Wednesday.

And the Cubs showed their mettle, grinding out a 2-1, walk-off victory over the league leaders from Notre Dame.

Cole Clark went six innings and allowed just an unearned run on five hits for the Knights.

Clark walked three and fanned seven Cubs batters.

Diego Herrera gave up a two-out, walk-off single to Ryan Times, which scored Henry Gunn with the game-winning run.

Times had half (three) of Loyola’s six hits, including the game-clinching RBI.

Adam Magpoc, Tino Valdez and Alex Orman had one hit apiece for the Cubs.

Donnie Morgan scored on a fifth-inning error by Clark to tie the score at 1-1.

Riley Russell allowed just one run over five innings on six hits for the Cubs.

He walked four and struck out two Notre Dame batters.

Henry Boylston got the win, after providing two scoreless innings of relief on one hit and one walk.

Jackson Frankovich walked, singled and had the Knights lone RBI.

Ryan Limerick walked and scored.

Greg Pierantoni and Jack Gurevitch had two singles apiece for Notre Dame.

Up next: The Cubs will travel to Sherman Oaks on Friday to decide the series winner.

Loyola sits in third place, behind Notre Dame and Harvard Westlake.
