College Baseball:

Mt. SAC won its 11th consecutive game on Thursday.

But it didn’t come easy.

LA Harbor out-hit Mt. SAC, 17-9, and the Mounties committed three errors, as opposed to one for their visitor.

But the SCC’s first-place Mounties claimed a 9-7 victory and improved to 11-3 in conference play.

LA Harbor got six runs on 10 hits off Jeff Isenhart in the first three innings.

Isenhart didn’t issue a walk and struck out four.

Trent Merrill picked up the win after three innings of relief and allowing just one run on four hits.

Merrill walked one and struck out two.

Damian Torres went two scoreless and struck out three, and Cristian Enriquez got the save with a scoreless ninth inning.

Dawson Hokuf went 4-for-5, with a double, run, and three RBIs for LA Harbor.

Marlon Oviedo singled, tripled and scored twice.

Omar Padilla went 1 2/3 innings and allowed five runs on two hits and four walks.

Deon Dizon was saddled with the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits over his 6 1/3 innings.

Dizon walked three and fanned three Mounties batters.

Damien Delgadillo had three doubles, an RBI and run scored.

Enriquez walked, doubled twice, scored a pair of runs and had one RBI.

Nin Burns walked, singled twice and scored three times.

CJ Ontiveros walked twice, doubled, scored and had two RBIs.

Blake Borgogno had a two-run single and his other RBI came when was hit by pitch with the bases loaded.

Up next: Mt. SAC will travel to LA Harbor on Saturday.

Quotable:

Mt. SAC coach, John Knott: “Our team battled back and forth with LA Harbor today and found a way late to win the game. It was very competitive and it could have gone either way. Damien Delgadillo came off the bench for three hits (all three doubles) and two RBIs, plus a game-saving catch for the final out. This conference as a whole is very competitive and anyone can beat anyone on a given day. You have to take it one pitch at a time and it will come down to whichever team executes better offensively and defensively, as well as which set of pitchers throw more strikes. We have been able to consistently throw strikes and make the routine plays, plus had some timely hits during this win streak.”
