Quotable:

Rancho Cucamonga coach, Tony Garcia: “When the season began, we were ecstatic to just be back on the field. My coaches and I were not able to be with out team until March 1st in conditioning pods with many restrictions, and we had our 1st preseason game March 19, so we had to prepare in a flash. Then we began play, and realized we had a chance to be very good. The season developed into a magical season for us. What my seniors did this year set the bar high for my underclassmen. We had a record-setting season at our school, with 23 wins, a CIF Southern Section finals appearance and a win in the first ever CIF State Tournament. In a COVID-19 season, we managed to play 36 games, which is another record for our school. I love my team and going to miss having the immense privilege to coach them. I know they leave our program well prepared to take on life’s challenges with a good attitude and a strong self belief that they can achieve what they set to do in life.”

RCHS senior, Michael Woodward: “My senior year was very difficult because of an injury that kept me out a big part of the season. I am grateful that I was able to come back later in the season and help the boys get to the CIF finals and the semifinals in state. I’m proud of the whole team and the whole coaching staff that got us prepared, even when we didn’t know we would have a season due to the pandemic. I will always remember the bond I had with my teammates and how it felt after we lost that CIF Championship game, because I never want to feel that feeling again when I go to Long Beach State.”

RCHS senior, Jake Brown: “The experience of my senior year couldn’t have been more special. I’ve never felt this meshed with a team before. As one of the seniors, it’s extremely special to have my last high school season be one for the history books. I had a good year myself so that was the icing on the cake. It’s great to see the juniors stepping up and fulfilling our roles as seniors towards the end of the season. I’m super proud of how we’ve played nonstop since march and kept grinding through the tough schedule we had. I’ll remember my last high school home run at Fullerton for the rest of my life. It was a moment that didn’t feel real. All of the hard work I’ve put in since I was 12 years old led up to that moment. Even though we came up short in the final, it was a life changing experience.”

RCHS senior, Bradyn France: “This was a year to remember forever. We had a great team, from our freshman to seniors, everyone loved each other and played for each other. This team knew what it felt like to win and that feeling kept us wanting it more and more.”

RCHS senior, Justin Hines: “This team was special and we were a family. I enjoyed every minute of it.”
