Top-Seeded Thousand Oaks Pulls Away From Bonita Late; Lancers Defeat Bearcats, 10-3, in D-2 Semifinal

Through the first four innings of Tuesday’s CIF-SS Division 2 semifinal, Bonita held a one-run lead over top-seeded Thousand Oaks.

The Lancers, though, scored eight runs over the final three innings and left La Verne with a 10-3 victory.

Edrian Rangel got the loss after allowing eight runs on nine hits over his 5 2/3 innings.

He walked five and struck out five Thousand Oaks batters.

Max Muncy walked twice, singled, homered, scored twice and drove in five runs.

Roc Riggio hit a solo shot in the top of the first and then left the game after being hit by pitch.

The Lancers star would reenter and finished 1-for-3, with a walk, and he struck out twice.

Justin Abercrombie singled twice and scored a pair of runs.

Charlie Saum walked, singled twice, scored and had an RBI.

The Bearcats got three first-inning runs off starter Cody Carson on three hits and a walk.

But three Thousand Oaks pitchers would combine to keep Bonita scoreless over the final six innings.

Collin Adams was credited with the win after two scoreless innings of relief.

Luke Mistone went 2-for-4, scored and had an RBI.

JT Fenton singled and scored.

Edrian Rangel and Bryan Bradshaw both walked and had one single apiece.

Aiden Caron scored for Bonita in the first inning.

The Bearcats season is not over.

They earned a spot in next week’s state tournament and will find out their opponent on Sunday.
