Northview Gets 2-Game, Valle Vista League Sweep of Covina After Friday’s 14-4 Victory in Six Innings

Baseball:

Northview needed two victories over Covina this week to share second place in the Valle Vista League.

And they got it.

On Wednesday, Sal Batres silenced the Colts in a 2-0 victory.

Two days later, the Vikings’ bats erupted in a 14-4, six-inning victory on senior day.

Northview out-hit Covina, 14-8.

Ethan Galindo got another win, going two innings and allowing one run on four hits.

Matt Pachuca and Tyson Patrick went one scoreless inning apiece in the win.

Covina got two runs off Josh Morago on two hits and then Andrew Granados closed the door with a perfect 1 1/3 innings, including three strikeouts.

Mark Manuel had a huge day for the Colts.

Manuel singled, doubled, homered and drove in three runs.

Andrew Frausto was stuck with the loss.

Frausto went 4 1/3 innings, and allowing six runs on nine hits.

He walked two and fanned three Northview batters.

Andrew Baltazar went 3-for-4, including a home run and two RBIs.

Dean Curley walked, singled three times, scored three runs and drove in two.

Luke Bauer also went 3-for-4, with an RBI and two runs.

Sal Batres singled and drove in two runs.

Ivan Barragan singled twice and scored.

Eligh Hidalgo scored once and had two RBIs.

Micah Hidalgo singled twice, scored two runs and had two RBIs.

Nick Peoples and Andrew Granados walked and scored.
