Baseball:

To secure the Baseline League’s No. 3 seed, Los Osos needed a victory over second-place Chino Hills on Friday, and for Damien to beat RCHS.

And they got both.

LOHS defeated CHHS, 7-1, and Damien pounded out an 11-6 victory over the Cougars.

It looked like Chino Hills was off to a fast start in the first inning, but a three-run home run was taken off the board when the Huskies reportedly batted out of order.

Korey Reed made the most of that reprieve and got the win, going four innings and allowing one run on four hits.

Reed walked two and struck out a pair of Huskies’ batters.

Tony Verrone contributed two scoreless innings of relief for the Grizzlies

Offensively, Evan Tiemann doubled, scored and drove in two runs.

Drake Job had an RBI base hit and scored once.

Dylan Mohler was 2-for-2, with an RBI.

Blake Boggs singled twice, scored and had an RBI.

Tyler Mohler contributed an RBI to the win.

Devean Alvarez went 2-for-4 and Daniel Moreno and Noe Romero had one single apiece.

Kyle Fortenberry and Ryan Melton scored one run apiece for the Grizzlies.
